Warranty Information

Southern Pacific warrants that all properly registered boats manufactured by us are manufactured free of defects of materials and workmanship to the extent set out below:

  • All fabric used in the construction of the Orca Hypalon tube against deterioration affecting serviceability (cracking and porosity) for a period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase.
 
  • Non-breathable boat covers eg. Stamoid® or PVC can create an environment for fungal growth and or small bubbles in the fabric and should not be used. Boat Covers should also be manufactured from lighter coloured fabric eg. White, Light Grey. Pennel Filipo the manufacturers of the Orca fabric recommend “Blue Marine” cleaning solutions (New Magic, Shmuffex, Gumemp 100), specifically designed to clean and protect Orca fabrics. Regular maintenance with these products helps inhibit mould growth and provides long-term protection.
 
  •  Fabric used in construction of the white PVC/Polyester coasted fabric tube against deterioration affecting serviceability (cracking and porosity) and including the seams and inflation valves of the tube for a period of three (3) years from the date of original purchase. This warranty shall be modified for two (2) years from the standard period for boats built of PVC/Polyester coated fabric residing or spending continuous periods in tropical areas, or areas with extreme summer temperatures.
 
  • Solvents eg. MEK and EA can damage the fabrics and MUST NOT be used for cleaning purposes.
 
  • Some high SF factor sunscreens can damage the fabrics and should be kept away from contact with the tubes.
 
  • Seats, rails, cushions, floorboards, oars and all other attachments or accessories installed by Southern Pacific are warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase against defects in workmanship and/or materials.
 
  • Aluminium hulls and other powder coated products are warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase against defects in workmanship and/or materials.
 
  • GRP hulls are warranted for a period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase against defects in workmanship and/or materials.
 
  • Commercial warranty one (1) year only on both alloy and GRP hulls.
 
 
 

This warranty does not apply in the following circumstances:

  • Other equipment installed on Southern Pacific boats (such as electronics). These items may carry their own individual warranties provided by their respective manufacturers or distributors. In such cases warranty claims should be handled directly with those manufacturers or distributors.
 
  • Southern Pacific is not responsible for any work done on a Southern Pacific boat at an unauthorised service station and/or without Southern Pacific’s prior approval.
 
  • This warranty shall not apply to Southern Pacific boats subject to negligence, accident, improper operation, improper trailering, damages caused by an outboard motor in excess of the maximum horsepower specified on the data plate affixed to the transom, improper maintenance or storage, tubes exposed to harsh chemicals, to commercial use or other than normal use or application. Any repair made as a result of any of the above will be made at a charge to the owner.
 
  • Where damaged powder coating has occurred as a result of the surface being pierced for any reason whatsoever.
 
  • No warranty applies on customer specified bare alloy hulls.
 
 

Any warranty claims must be approved by Southern Pacific in writing before any warranty work is performed on the Southern Pacific boat. The original retail purchaser must send written notification with the original bill of sale, and photographs illustrating the damage and/or defect to Southern Pacific. Southern Pacific will then advise the owner where to send – freight prepaid – the boat or part for repair or replacement. In many cases a local authorised service station may be used for repairs, in others, the boat must be repaired by factory personnel only. This warranty does not include freight or delivery charges – other charges may apply.

Southern Pacific reserves the right to alter models, change colours, specifications, materials, equipment, component parts, prices or cease production of certain models at any time without notice; and such changes shall be made without incurring obligations to equip or modify units produced prior to the date of such changes.

Other than as stated herein, Southern Pacific or its appointed distributors make no warranty of merchantability or suitability for any application. Where (were it not for this paragraph) the Consumer Guarantees Act, 1993 would apply to the sale of Southern Pacific boats and/or equipment and the boat and/or equipment is acquired for the purposes of a business as defined in the Consumer Guarantees Act, 1993, that Act does not apply to contract of sale. Nothing in this warranty document is indented to have the effect of contracting out of the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act, 1993 where that Act applies. Where the Act does apply, these terms are modified accordingly.
